Dear CTA/NEA-Retired members,
I am a candidate to be a representative for CTA-R at the NEA Convention. I have past experience that makes me an outstanding and “ready to work for you” candidate.
I was on the Retirement Committee at State Council for Santa Clara County for 8 years before I retired in 2010. I worked with Don Dawson, Bob Nichols, Lynn Formigli, KC Walsh and Marlene Matoon. Being with the Retirement Committee I know how to address retired member concerns. I know how to present New Business items and how to speak at the microphones. I work with other states to discuss our issues and gain their support and help to pass those issues with their votes.
I was also a trained Legislative Coordinator so I have experience working with CTA's established procedures to develop legislative priorities on retirement issues.
I retired in 2010 and
was really really active for 8 years before that in CTA and NEA
and my local. I taught art 31 years + and really loved my work.
I also represented California at 8 previous NEA Representative
Assemblies. I was a contact person with New Jersey and
other states.
As I mentioned above I was on the retirement committee at CTA state council so I'm very well versed in the issues and I'm a tireless worker in what ever I get involved with. (right now it is travel with my husband and running the trail by the creek daily + art work and Grandbabies etc.) I'm ready to represent your issues at the NEA Convention this summer. I'm an energetic 66 year old and ready to do this.
On the local level I was on the board as CTA Rep and High School Director. When I retired from teaching in 2010 CTA President David Sanchez and just retired President Dean Vogel awarded me a beautiful award for “Outstanding Work in Politics”. I also received the “WHO” award on the local Service Center Level.
Please vote for Deborah Imerson.
Sincerely,
Deborah Imerson
